Legal Injunction Overturned for the New Temple in Buenos Aires

Tuesday, May 19, 2026
A legal injunction that temporarily halted the government authorization process for the Buenos Aires City Center Argentina Temple has been unanimously overturned. In November 2024, the local government passed a resolution that determined a land use designation of “place of worship” was feasible for the property. An opposition group seeking to preserve the heritage of the historic Church and Monastery of St. Catherine of Siena, located adjacent to the temple site, later filed a petition that resulted in the issuance of the injunction in December 2025. With the injunction overturned, the Church may now proceed with obtaining authorization and building permits from the city government.
