  <description><![CDATA[Monday, April 13, 2026<p>The media was given a preview today of the new 39,800-square-foot Temple Square Visitors' Center—five weeks ahead of its opening to the public on Monday, May 18, 2026. A replica of Bertel Thorvaldsen’s <em>Christus</em> statue stands in the west wing. On the lower level is a new marble sculpture titled “Come Unto Me.” On the same level is a guided 30-minute experience leading guests through full-scale replicas of a typical welcome desk, baptistry, instruction room, sealing room, and celestial room. A scale cut-away model of the Salt Lake Temple is also on display. Sister Havea is a senior missionary coordinator and a former ward Relief Society president. With the main body of the temple now enclosed in stone panels, work is advancing to the upper architectural elements. The exterior floodlighting currently in use enhances site security while offering a preview of the building’s future architectural illumination.
