As precautions against the spread of the COVID-19 virus continue to be taken across the globe, the Church has proceeded with the temporary closure of additional temples including the Asunción Paraguay Temple, Boston Massachusetts Temple, Copenhagen Denmark Temple, Louisville Kentucky Temple, and Manhattan New York Temple. The latest announcement brings the total number of virus-related temple closures to fourteen—two of which were already closed for renovation.

Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles presided at the rededication of the Asunción Paraguay Temple today. "The rededication of the temple is a sacred moment," he said. "For me, it's an opportunity for all of us to consider our own situations, individually, and how we might rededicate ourselves to the work of the Lord, being His disciples." The temple reopens to patrons on Tuesday, November 12, 2019.

Free tours of the renovated interior of the Asunción Paraguay Temple will be offered to the public beginning this Saturday, October 12, and concluding next Saturday, October 19. Hours are 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. on Monday–Wednesday; 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday; and closed on Sunday. Tours will begin with a 10-minute video presentation followed by a 30-minute walking tour of the temple. Watch a video featuring views of the interior and exterior of the temple.

Prior to the opening of the Asunción Paraguay Temple to public tours on Saturday, October 12, 2019, local Young Men and Young Women groups are invited to take a special tour of the renovated temple on Monday, October 7, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The temple has been closed for renovation for the past two years.

The renovated Asunción Paraguay Temple will open to the public for an open house beginning Saturday, October 12, and continuing through Saturday, October 19, 2019, except for Sunday, October 13, 2019. The temple will be rededicated on Sunday, November 3, 2019, in one session at 10:00 a.m. It reopens to patrons on Tuesday, November 12, 2019.

Construction activities continue at the Asunción Paraguay Temple, which is the sole temple in Latin America undergoing renovation. Upgrades to the roof have been carried out, granite cladding has been removed from the west side, some trees and other landscaping have been removed, and workers have stained the walkways around the temple.
