HVAC Issues Temporarily Close the Rexburg Idaho Temple

The Rexburg Idaho Temple temporarily closed on Wednesday evening after an HVAC issue caused the building’s air conditioning system to stop functioning. The temple doors closed at 5:00 p.m. for repairs, and it was closed for much of Thursday with the hope of reopening on Friday. Members and patrons are encouraged to check the temple’s current operating status for updates as technicians work to restore the system.

Sheathing the Exterior of the Winchester Virginia Temple

The work of enclosing the Winchester Virginia Temple is underway. Steel studs are being fastened to the structural framing, followed by the placement of bright yellow sheathing boards that form the outer walls of the building. Once installed, the sheathing is coated with a waterproofing sealant that changes the surface color from yellow to gray, creating a weather-resistant barrier for the temple exterior.

Exterior Rendering Released for the Greenville South Carolina Temple

The official exterior rendering for the Greenville South Carolina Temple has been added to the location announcement published on the Church Newsroom on Tuesday. The design features classical architectural elements, including a pedimented entrance supported by columns and an ornamented steeple with a white tower body and metal-clad spire. A date for the groundbreaking ceremony has not yet been announced.

Scaffolding Returns to the Neiafu Tonga Temple

Scaffolding has been erected at several locations around the Neiafu Tonga Temple as crews complete the remaining exterior finish work. Soft landscaping has also been established across the temple grounds, which adjoin the campus of Church-owned Saineha High School. Neiafu, located in the Vavaʻu island group, is the second-largest town in Tonga after the capital city of Nukuʻalofa on the island of Tongatapu, where the nation’s first temple was constructed.

Elder Bednar and Mayor Javkin Discuss the Rosario Argentina Temple

Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles met with Rosario Mayor Pablo Javkin at the Municipal Palace in Rosario on May 20, 2026. One of the central topics of the meeting was the upcoming construction of the Rosario Argentina Temple. "The temple in Rosario will be a great blessing to the citizens, including those who are not members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints," said Elder Bednar. "The light that emanates from the house of the Lord will bless all who come to the grounds and feel the Spirit of the Lord there."

Greenville South Carolina Temple Site Location Revealed

The site location for the Greenville South Carolina Temple has been announced as a 8.8-acre property located south of the intersection of Independence Boulevard/Ponders Road and Roper Mountain Road in Greenville. Plans call for an 18,850-square-foot, single-story temple. The temple will be the second constructed in the state, joining the Columbia South Carolina Temple, which was dedicated in 1999.

San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple Open House and Dedication Dates

The public open house for the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple will be held from Thursday, September 24, through Saturday, October 10 (excluding Sundays and Saturday, October 3). The event will kick off with a media day on Monday, September 21, followed by two days of tours for invited guests. Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside at the dedication on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with a rebroadcast at 2:00 p.m. The dedicatory session will be broadcast to congregations in the temple district.

Groundbreaking Date Set for the Santos Brazil Temple

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Santos Brazil Temple will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026. Elder Ronald M. Barcellos, of the Brazil Area Presidency, will preside at the event. The temple will be constructed on the site of the Jabaquara Ward meetinghouse, located at Avenida Doutor Waldemar Leão, 305. Plans call for a two-story building of approximately 23,000 square feet.

Site Location Announced for the Caldwell Idaho Temple

The site location for the Caldwell Idaho Temple has been announced as a 19.2-acre parcel located southwest of the intersection of West Orchard Avenue and South Florida Avenue in Canyon County, Idaho. Plans call for an 82,000-square-foot, multistory temple with an on-site meetinghouse and accompanying ancillary building. It will be the third temple constructed in the Treasure Valley, joining the Boise Idaho Temple (1984) and Meridian Idaho Temple (2017).

Teton River Idaho Temple Rises Above Nearby Pastureland

The Teton River Idaho Temple continues to take shape in northern Rexburg, where grazing cattle create a calming foreground to the rising structure. Stone cladding is advancing on the steeple as well as the north and east elevations of the building, further defining the temple's exterior appearance. The contrast between the active construction site and the quiet pastureland emphasizes the prominence of this house of the Lord in the Upper Snake River Valley.

Building Another Retaining Structure at the Lehi Utah Temple Site

Site development continues at the Lehi Utah Temple site, where work has begun on constructing an additional retaining wall. Since the meetinghouse and temple will occupy different elevations on the property, the retaining structure will help create level building pads for each facility while providing separation between the two grounds. Earthwork and grading activities remain ongoing as crews prepare the property for future construction of the buildings.

One-Year GroundBreaking Anniversary of the Natal Brazil Temple

Just over a year has passed since construction began on the Natal Brazil Temple, and significant progress is visible across the site. The structural frames for both the temple and steeple have been erected, and installation of the exterior stone cladding is underway, supported by the scaffolding and blue safety netting that surrounds various elevations of the structure. On the grounds, hardscape installation is progressing.

Lean Concrete Slab Poured for the Heber Valley Utah Temple

Foundation work is advancing at the Heber Valley Utah Temple site, where crews have installed an extensive network of underground plumbing beneath a lean concrete slab. The plumbing infrastructure will support the temple’s future mechanical and drainage systems before structural foundations are installed. The slab provides a clean, stable working surface that will facilitate ongoing construction.

President Christofferson to Dedicate the Yorba Linda California Temple

President D. Todd Christofferson, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, will dedicate the Yorba Linda California Temple on Sunday, June 7, 2026. He will be accompanied by Elder Steven R. Bangerter, Executive Director of the Temple Department, and his wife, Susan; Elder I. Raymond Egbo and his wife, Comfort; and Elder Takashi Wada and his wife, Naomi. The dedication ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. and will be broadcast to all congregations within the temple district.

Glass Lifter Installing Windows in the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple

Installation of the tall window assemblies is underway at the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple using a specialized glass-lifting manipulator mounted to a telescoping lift. Equipped with powerful suction cups, the device allows crews to carefully lift, rotate, and position the large windows within the prepared openings. The precision system enables installers to make fine adjustments before permanently securing the assemblies to the structural framing.

Structural Framing Underway on the Wellington New Zealand Temple

Construction of the Wellington New Zealand Temple has risen above ground level as heavy steel framing reaches skyward. After months of excavation and foundation work, the first visible structural elements of the temple are now taking shape, giving a sense of the future form and scale of the building. The transition to vertical construction marks an exciting milestone for the project.

Manhattan New York Temple Renovation Passes the Two-Year Mark

The progress of renovation work on the Manhattan New York Temple remains largely concealed behind extensive scaffolding, safety netting, and sidewalk sheds that surround the building. While little of the exterior work is visible from the street, construction activity is ongoing as the historic structure undergoes a comprehensive renovation and reconfiguration. Upon completion, the building will continue to accommodate both temple and meetinghouse functions, along with the addition of a small visitors’ center designed to welcome guests.

Cladding the Exterior Walls of the Kaohsiung Taiwan Temple

Scaffolding and debris netting surround the Kaohsiung Taiwan Temple as light-colored cladding panels are secured to the exterior surfaces of the building. Window openings remain covered, allowing interior construction to continue uninterrupted. Rising above the center of the structure, the nearly completed steeple has become a prominent and elegant feature of the project, distinguished by its tiered design and ornamental window grilles.

Legal Injunction Overturned for the New Temple in Buenos Aires

A legal injunction that temporarily halted the government authorization process for the Buenos Aires City Center Argentina Temple has been unanimously overturned. In November 2024, the local government passed a resolution that determined a land use designation of “place of worship” was feasible for the property. An opposition group seeking to preserve the heritage of the historic Church and Monastery of St. Catherine of Siena, located adjacent to the temple site, later filed a petition that resulted in the issuance of the injunction in December 2025. With the injunction overturned, the Church may now proceed with obtaining authorization and building permits from the city government.

Construction Advances on the Cali Colombia Temple

Steel framing components are staged across the grounds of the Cali Colombia Temple, supporting ongoing interior framing and construction activity within the building. On the exterior, crews are installing stone cladding panels featuring classical architectural moldings. Above the main structure, work has begun on sheathing the tower framework, a prominent feature of the temple skyline.

Location of the Rosario Argentina Temple Site Announced

The location of the Rosario Argentina Temple has been announced as a 1.59-acre property located on the city block bordered by Güemes, Santiago bis, and Alvear bis streets. Plans for the temple were announced in April 2024. There are currently five dedicated temples in Argentina. Plans are also underway for a second temple in Buenos Aires, bringing the total number for the country to seven.

Opening Dates Announced for the Cody Wyoming Temple

The public is invited to tour the interior of the newly constructed Cody Wyoming Temple from Thursday, August 27, through Saturday, September 12, 2026 (excluding Sundays). The open house will begin with a media day held on Monday, August 24, followed by two days of tours for invited guests. The temple will be dedicated on Sunday, October 25, at 10:00 a.m. with a rebroadcast at 2:00 p.m. The dedicatory session will be broadcast to all congregations in the temple district.

Installing Chandeliers in the Salt Lake Temple Celestial Room

Renovation work continues inside the Salt Lake Temple where chandeliers are being hung in the celestial room, finish work is progressing in the sealing wing addition, staircase banisters are being installed, and final details are underway throughout the building. The copper roof has been fully installed, which will darken and develop a green patina over time. The new Temple Square Visitors' Center opens to the public today. Visitors are welcome daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. No reservations are required except to participate in the "Inside a Temple" tour on the lower level. Guests are encouraged to download the Temple Square app.

City Approves Initial Site Work for the Coeur d'Alene Idaho Temple

The City of Coeur d'Alene has granted approval for site preparations to begin for the Coeur d'Alene Idaho Temple. Clearing and grading of the land is approved, as is installation of the utility infrastructure, including water, sewer, and electrical service connections. "The approval to begin the early site work for construction of the Coeur d’Alene Temple is an answer to many prayers," said President Bradley Moss of the Post Falls Idaho Stake. "We believe it will be a beacon of faith, hope, and peace for all who seek to draw closer to the Savior."

Concrete Structural Frame in Place for the Budapest Hungary Temple

The structural frame for the main body of the Budapest Hungary Temple has been completed. The reinforced concrete walls and roof deck now define the full footprint of the sacred structure, while preparations continue for framing the steeple. The striking silhouette of the temple is becoming increasingly prominent among the hills of the Harsánylejtő area of Budapest, marking the steady progress of construction.

Sheathing of the Grand Rapids Michigan Temple Steeple Completed

The steeple frame rising above the main entrance of the Grand Rapids Michigan Temple has been fully sheathed, while stone cladding continues to advance across the exterior walls of the main floor. Cladding is nearly complete on three sides of the temple, with work remaining on the entrance portico, upper parapet walls, and steeple. Trees are being planted in the parking lot islands, and preparations are underway for hardscaping the entrance plaza.

Framing the Steeple of the Vancouver Washington Temple

The Vancouver Washington Temple, located in the community of Camas, continues to rise amid the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Crews are attaching metal studs to the steeple frame and shaping the window openings. A waterproofing membrane is steadily being applied to the temple’s exterior walls, while the first shipment of granite cladding has arrived from Spain. Inside the temple, the concrete support structure for the baptismal font is now in place.

Planning Commission to Consider Bakersfield California Temple Plans

Following months of research and analysis, a 431-page draft environmental report for the proposed 29,630-square-foot Bakersfield California Temple was published in March. The Planning Commission will review the report along with public feedback as it considers a zoning modification to allow the temple’s 123-foot steeple. Residents of a nearby 55-and-over community have raised concerns about the height of the building and its architectural lighting, which the Church has addressed with findings in the report.

Plans Announced for the Otavalo Ecuador Temple

On Thursday, May 14, 2026, during an evening devotional with local Latter-day Saints in Otavalo, Ecuador, Elder Juan Pablo Villar of the South America Northwest Area Presidency announced plans by the First Presidency to construct the Otavalo Ecuador Temple, bringing another house of the Lord to the Andes region. "This is a reason for all of us to rejoice and express gratitude for such a significant blessing — one that will allow more frequent access to the ordinances, covenants and power that can only be found in the house of the Lord," said the First Presidency statement.
