Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple Monument Sign
Stone panels have been installed on the monument sign in front of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple that are inscribed with the Spanish names for the Church and the temple. Rounded curbing and an irrigation stub can be seen in front of the sign where flowers will be planted and a light fixture installed. Scaffolding remains in front of the portico where the exterior cladding is being finalized.

Aerial Photograph of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple Site
A recent aerial photograph of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple site shows the grass sod that has been laid on the northeast side of the grounds where the main entrance to the property is located. Numerous potted plants have been staged in the parking lot, and the concrete base for the monument sign is in place near the entrance plaza. Cladding of the temple exterior is nearly complete.

Grass Sod Laid on the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple Grounds
Grass sod is being laid on the grounds of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple, as seen through the recently installed property fence. The temple is a beautiful sight against the deep blue skies and lush green grass. Installation of the stone cladding is in the final stages. Once completed, the scaffolds can be removed. The temple has been under construction for almost two-and-a-half years.

Interior Work on the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple Progressing
While construction advances on the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple, technicians are working nearby to lay fiber-optic cable that will provide high-speed internet to the area. Exterior stonework on the temple is nearing completion, stained glass has been installed, and interior finish work is well underway including stone baseboards and thresholds and wood trim and moldings. Tile is being laid, painted walls and ceilings are being stenciled, and the baptismal font is in place.

Cladding the Facade of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple
Stone cladding is steadily moving up the facade of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple. The other three sides have been completed, leaving only the front walls and steeple. The exterior of the ancillary building behind the temple has been completed, and work is progressing on the buildings' interiors. Argentina's third temple was dedicated last month in Salta, and its fourth will be dedicated in September in Mendoza. The temple in Bahía Blanca will be the fifth.

Entrance to the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple Grounds
At the property entrance to the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple, curbing has been poured and pavers have been laid for the driveway that leads to the parking areas. The median between the entrance and exit lanes will be planted with flowers, and gates will be installed on either side of the guardhouse. Ornamental fencing is being secured to a concrete gravel board along the park strips.

Exterior Stonework at the Rear of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple
Scaffolding has come down from the rear side of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple, revealing the beautiful two-toned stonework that decorates the exterior walls. A gray-colored course runs along the base of the building while a lighter cream-colored stone is used for the rest of the temple. The brick and stucco exterior of the ancillary building is nearing completion, and work is progressing on the interior.

Advancements on the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple Complex
The guardhouse and maintenance building for the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple stand on the northeast side of the property, sharing the same brick exterior as the ancillary building. The temple is being faced with a light-colored stone, setting it apart from the other buildings. Cladding is nearly completed on two sides of the temple, and the roof has been shingled. It is one of seven temples dedicated, under construction, or planned for Argentina.

Sheathing the Steeple of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple
Sheathing is being attached to the base tier of the steeple frame that sits above the main entrance to the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple. Stone cladding of the exterior walls continues on the rear side of the building while roofing is underway on both the temple and the accommodation center. The city of Bahía Blanca, meaning "White Bay" in English, was named for the white color of the salt that covers the soil along the shores.

Secretary General Tours the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple Site
The Secretary General of the Union of Construction Workers of Argentina (UOCRA) for Bahía Blanca toured the construction site of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple today. He met with those responsible for worker safety and emphasized the importance of ensuring safe working conditions for all participating in the construction. He was deeply thankful for the kind attention and cordiality he received during his visit.

Exterior Progress at the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple Site
Recently poured concrete curbing and walkways can be seen from the rear corner of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple site where construction continues on the temple and accommodation center. Cladding has been secured along the northeast wall of the temple, and the plastered brick walls of the ancillary building are being coated in white. Work is also progressing at various stages on the interiors of the buildings.

Cladding of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple Underway
On the rear side of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple, scaffolds have been erected to provide temporary platforms for workers who are securing stone cladding to the exterior walls. The walls of the brick ancillary building, located behind the temple, have been plastered. This building will house a distribution center and accommodations for patrons traveling long distances. The project has been underway for 18 months.

A New Day Dawns at the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple
A breathtaking sunrise at the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple paints the skies a mesmerizing blend of orange and violet. Crews have completed much of the framing for the roof and continue to establish the hardscape of the grounds. The temple has been under construction for 16 months. David wrote, "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork" (Psalm 19:1).

Framing the Roof of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple
A dazzling sunset brings another construction day at the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple site to a close. The frame for the cupola and lantern now top the steeple, and framing for the roof has begun at the southwest side of the building. Other work in progress includes hardscaping of the grounds, construction of the ancillary building, and early work on the interior. Once completed, the temple will become the southernmost dedicated temple of the Church until the Wellington New Zealand Temple is dedicated.

Installing Planters on the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple Grounds
Crews continue to install the hardscape for the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple grounds by forming and pouring low-profile concrete walls for planters. Glass has been glazed in the window openings, and brackets are being installed for the ornamental casing that will be secured around the windows during the cladding phase. Application of the moisture barrier has reached the front portico.

Tower Frame Rising Over the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple
The steel frame for the tower of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple is now rising over the main entrance to the building. The majority of the exterior walls have been covered in a moisture barrier, and brick masons are laying brick for the exterior walls of the ancillary building. Construction at the temple complex began 13 months ago.

Arched Portico Framed for the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple
Concrete work has been completed for the beautiful arched portico at the entrance to the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple. The exterior walls of the building are being wrapped in a moisture barrier that will help protect the porous concrete from water damage. Construction of an ancillary building behind the temple is progressing simultaneously. Sunday marks the one-year anniversary of the groundbreaking ceremony.

Progress on the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple and Ancillary Building

Main Structure Rising for the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple
Concrete crews are hard at work building the structural frame for the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple. Shoring posts are used when pouring roof or ceiling slabs to provide the bracing needed for the curing concrete. Two prominent tower cranes stand on site to support the construction of both the temple and its ancillary structures. Construction began nearly nine months ago in April 2022.

Structural Columns Rising for the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple
Construction of the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple has kicked into high gear over the past month since excavation for the foundation was completed. The foundation walls have now been installed, including a small basement area for the baptismal font. Reinforced concrete columns are rising for the superstructure of the building, and sheets of rebar mesh on site will be used to reinforce the exterior walls.

Tower Crane Installed at the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple Site
Construction activity has picked up at the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple site where trees have been removed and ground has been cleared, leveled, and lightly excavated by heavy machinery. Near the location of the future temple, a tower crane has been anchored to a sturdy concrete base. The groundbreaking for the temple was held in April, and contractors began to arrive several weeks later.

Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple Groundbreaking Ceremony Held
On Saturday, April 9, 2022, ground was broken for the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple in the presence of Church members and community members including local civic leaders. Elder Joaquin E. Costa of the Quorum of the Seventy presided. The 19,000-square-foot temple will be constructed on a 8.14-acre site in the Aldea Romana neighborhood along with a 25,000-square-foot ancillary building housing patron accommodations and a distribution center. In his dedicatory prayer, Elder Costa said: "We thank the authorities of the different governments through the many years that the gospel has been shared here. We are grateful for the tolerance and openness to receive missionaries, allow construction and provide a safe environment for the restored Church of Jesus Christ to grow in Bahía Blanca and southern Argentina."

Groundbreaking Announced for the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022. Elder Joaquin E. Costa of the Quorum of the Seventy will preside. The temple will be constructed on an 8.14-acre parcel located northeast of the city in the Aldea Romana neighborhood at the intersection of Avenida Alberto Pedro Cabrera and Luis Vera. The 19,000-square-foot temple will be accompanied by a 25,000-square-foot ancillary building with patron housing and a distribution center.
