Phase Changes Announced for Next Monday
On Monday, November 16, 2020, the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple and the Cebu City Philippines Temple will move from Phase 1 to Phase 2 while the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple will move from Phase 2 back to Phase 1. This brings the total number of temples in Phase 2 to 128.

Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple Rededicated
Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles rededicated the beautifully renovated Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple today, following a weeklong public open house. "The temple is a place of refuge when we face challenges," he said. Patrons will be welcomed at the temple to performance ordinance work beginning Saturday, November 23, 2019. The nearly 20-year-old building was dedicated by President Gordon B. Hinckley on July 16, 2000.

Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple Opens to the Public
A one-week open house for the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple begins this Saturday, October 26, and continues through Saturday, November 2, 2019. Hours are Monday–Thursday, 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.; Friday–Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, closed. Tours are free and no reservations are required. The nearly two-year renovation began in January 2018. The exterior appearance was altered by enclosing the portico, building a more substantial tower, recladding the exterior in a beige-colored limestone, and installing exquisite art glass windows with a shell and magnolia flower motif. The updated landscaping features native flora including flowering crepe myrtle and magnolia trees.

Preparing for Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple Open House
The construction barrier at the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple has come down, and members are inviting their family and friends to next month's open house. The contractor has recently finished work on a parking lot drainage system, and beautiful plants and flowers now surround the entire building.

Renovation of Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple Nearing Completion
Just two months remain before the public can step inside the fully renovated Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple and tour this heavenly house of worship. No reservations are needed. Doors will be open from October 26 through November 2, 2019, during the following hours: Monday–Thursday, 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Friday–Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Sunday, Closed. Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside over the rededication on November 17, 2019.

Progress at the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple
The Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple is looking more beautiful than ever with a backdrop of blue skies, fluffy clouds, and mature trees. Installation of the decorative fencing has made its way to the front of the temple, sconces has been installed on either side of the entrance doors, and more soft landscaping has been planted. The temple opens to the public at the end of October for a week-long open house.

Landscaping the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple Grounds
A handsome magnolia tree—a favorite of the South—will serve as the centerpiece of the beautiful grounds on the rear side of the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple. A wide variety of trees and shrubs are being delivered to the construction site for planting. Several stained-glass windows have been installed in the temple.

Rededication Announced for the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple
The Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple will be rededicated by Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in a single session held on Sunday, November 17, 2019. The public is invited to tour the renovated temple before its rededication from October 26 through November 2, 2019, except for Sunday, October 27. The temple will open for ordinance work on Saturday, November 23, 2019.

Exterior Stone Cladding Completed for the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple
Scaffolding has been removed from the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple with the completion of the exterior stone cladding and the installation of stained-glass windows in the steeple. The temple stands next to the stake center for the Baton Rouge Louisiana Stake at the edge of a heavily wooded area on the southern side of the city.

Construction Update on the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple
Construction crews are making good progress on the renovation of the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple. The monument sign has been completed, lamp posts are being installed, and little remains to finish the exterior stone cladding. The temporary glass that is currently in the window openings will eventually be replaced by stained glass.

Angel Moroni Added to Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple
On Wednesday, February 13, at the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple, members gathered to the construction site to witness the placement of the angel Moroni statue atop the newly stone-clad tower. The work of stone cladding continues along the exterior walls of the temple while renovation activities are underway inside the building.

Stone Cladding Progress at the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple
With the tower and rear side of the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple covered in granite, the process of stone cladding has reached approximately the halfway point. Temporary glass has been installed in the window openings, and crews are hanging drywall and making other progress on the interior.

Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple Exterior Progress
A black waterproofing mastic has been applied to all of the exterior walls of the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple, and brackets are being attached for hanging the stone cladding. Work on hanging the stone panels started along the rear side of the temple and will wrap around to the front in coming weeks.

Waterproofing the Exterior of the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple
The newly shaped exterior of the Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple is being prepared for stone cladding by covering the walls in a vapor barrier that will protect against moisture problems. The temple is one of several sharing this floor plan that are receiving similar renovations.
Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple Closes for Renovation
The Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple closed on Sunday for an extended renovation that will last approximately a year and a half before the building is rededicated. Similar renovations are underway at other temples in the southern United States including Memphis, Oklahoma City, and Raleigh.
