Temple Announcement

The Beira Mozambique Temple, the first temple to be constructed in Mozambique, was announced by President Russell M. Nelson at the closing session of the 191st Annual General Conference. There are more than 15,000 Latter-day Saints in Mozambique, organized into 40 congregations.  More than a half million people reside in the city of Beira, which lies on the coast of the Indian Ocean in central Mozambique. Missionaries work in the country began in early 1999.1

The Beira Mozambique Temple will be the first temple built in Mozambique.
