Temple Announcement
On April 7, 2019, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Budapest Hungary Temple, the sixteenth temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Europe. Hungary is home to 5,250 Latter-day Saints organized into one stake and two districts. Legal recognition for the Church came in 1988, though the Church has maintained a small presence in the country since the late 1800s. Members in Hungary currently travel many hours to the Freiberg Germany Temple to participate in temple worship.2
