Temple Site
On February 18, 2025, the location of the Culiacán Mexico Temple was announced as a 5-acre property located near the Culiacán River off of Avenida Milenium, between Miguel Tamayo Espinoza de los Monteros and Boulevard José María Figueroa Díaz. Plans call for a one-story temple of approximately 10,000 square feet with an adjacent patron housing building.1
Temple Announcement
On October 3, 2021, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Culiacán Mexico Temple at the October 2021 General Conference. This will be the 17th temple in the country. Culiacán, officially Culiacán Rosales, is a city in northwestern Mexico and has a population of around 850,000 people. Mexico is home to 1.5 million Latter-day Saints and around 1,850 congregations, more than any other country outside the United States. Missionary work opened in Mexico in 1875. The other temples in Mexico comprise the Ciudad Juárez Mexico Temple, Colonia Juárez Chihuahua Mexico Temple, Guadalajara Mexico Temple, Hermosillo Sonora Mexico Temple, Mérida Mexico Temple, Mexico City Mexico Temple, Monterrey Mexico Temple, Oaxaca Mexico Temple, Puebla Mexico Temple, Querétaro Mexico Temple, Tampico Mexico Temple, Tijuana Mexico Temple, Torreón Mexico Temple, Tuxtla Gutiérrez Mexico Temple, Veracruz Mexico Temple and Villahermosa Mexico Temple.2
