The Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple is currently in the planning stages. No groundbreaking date has been announced.
Temple Rendering
On May 13, 2024, the official exterior rendering of the Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple was released to the public.1
Temple Site
On March 20, 2023, the location of the Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple was announced as a long, narrow parcel located across from the Barrio Sión (Zion Ward) meetinghouse. Plans call for a single-story building of approximately 10,787 square feet.2
Temple Announcement
On October 2, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple at the October 2022 General Conference. The temple will be the fifth House of the Lord in the country, located in the highlands of western Guatemala. The other four temples were the Cobán Guatemala Temple (under construction), Guatemala City Guatemala Temple, Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple (announced), and Quetzeltenango Guatemala Temple. Guatemala is home to more than 284,000 Latter-day Saints in 436 congregations.3
