President Eyring Rededicates the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple
Following an extensive renovation project that closed the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple for over two years, President Henry B. Eyring of the First Presidency rededicated the temple today in three sessions broadcast to all of the stakes in Idaho. The temple was the first constructed in the state.

Refurbished Angel Moroni Reinstalled Atop the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple
A freshly gilded angel Moroni took his familiar place atop the tiered tower of the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple today. The statue had been removed one week ago for refurbishment, in connection with the temple renovation. It was set back in place in time for the public open house with 10 days to spare. The original design for the temple did not include an angel Moroni statue. It was added 38 years after the temple's dedication at the suggestion of the temple presidency.
Idaho Falls Temple Moroni Removed for Refurbishment
The gold-leafed angel Moroni statue, which has been a fixture of the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple since its addition by helicopter in 1983, was removed this morning from the temple tower for refurbishment. After receiving a new coat of gold leaf, the angel will return in time for the open house.

Parking Lot Resurfacing at the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple
Work is wrapping up on resurfacing the north-side parking lot at the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple. The temple has been closed for renovation for the past 18 months and is expected to be rededicated early next year. The building will reopen to the public for tours for the first time in 71 years.

Colored flags, ladders, and construction chutes are evidence of the roofing activities taking place at the historic Idaho Falls Idaho Temple, which has been undergoing renovation for just over a year. Construction of the original temple was interrupted by World War II, delaying dedication until 1945.

Windows that were once located at the southeast corner of the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple have been removed and replaced with square-in-square concrete blocks—a pattern used throughout the temple. This area of the building, near the new bridal exit door, is being repurposed.

As part of the ongoing renovation of the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple, two new exit doorways have been cut into the south wall of the temple, which lead to the beautiful bridal plaza, featuring gardens and a shading structure that acts as a backdrop for wedding party photographs. The work of asbestos removal has recently been completed, which required several more weeks than anticipated due to the large amount of asbestos encountered.
Idaho Falls Renovation Begins
Over twenty marriages were performed in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple on its last day of operation before closing for a major renovation on Monday. The parking lots, which were filled to capacity with cars, are now occupied by trucks, trailers, and storage containers as furniture and decorations are hauled out of the building.
Renovation Announced for the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple
The First Presidency has announced that the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple will close for renovation beginning Monday, March 16, 2015. The temple is expected to reopen in October 2016. Members in the temple district are encouraged to attend the Rexburg Idaho Temple during the closure.

On the western side of the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple, renovation of the grounds is nearly complete. The sidewalks leading to the baptistry entrance have been reopened where the square-in-square design element of the temple has been replicated in the entrance patio.

The grounds of the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple will be redone this summer in an extensive renovation project expected to last through late September. The original reflecting pools, once filled with water lillies and small fish and then converted to flowerbeds in the 1960s, will be replaced with a new water feature.
