Johannesburg Temple Reopens after Monthlong Closure
The Johannesburg South Africa Temple was closed during the month of August for minor renovations that included new wall coverings, draperies, plumbing, and showers. Patron housing received new cupboards, bathrooms, laundry, and additional showers.
Mozambique's First Stake Organized in Maputo
The first stake of the Church in the African nation of Mozambique was organized this weekend in the city of Maputo. Elder Stanley G. Ellis of the First Quorum of the Seventy presided. The Saints of Maputo travel approximately 350 miles to attend the temple in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Johannesburg Temple District
Notable unit creation has occurred in the Johannesburg temple district over the past six weeks including the first districts in Angola and Malawi. The Antananarivo Madagascar Stake divided in two, and the Gweru Zimbabwe District matured into a stake. In the Johannesburg metro area, the Centurion South Africa Stake was created.
