May Updates Announced for Temple Reopenings
On May 3, 2021, the Lisbon Portugal Temple will begin Phase 2 of reopening, and the Curitiba Brazil Temple will unpause and resume Phase 2. The Boston Massachusetts Temple is currently undergoing maintenance and will reopen in Phase 2 on June 1. On May 10, temples in 27 locations will begin Phase 2-B in North America and Asia, and the following three temples will begin Phase 3: the Kansas City Missouri Temple, the London England Temple, and the Preston England Temple. The Halifax Nova Scotia Temple and Suva Fiji Temple will pause operations this week.

New Book Celebrates the Kansas City Missouri Temple
Created under the direction of the area leadership, a new 150-page not-for-profit book presents "stunning professional photographs and heart-felt stories surrounding the history, building and events of the Kansas City Missouri Temple." Orders must be received by June 25 at kansascitytemplebook.net.
Open House Concludes for Kansas City Missouri Temple
The final public tours of the interior of the Kansas City Missouri Temple were held on Saturday, April 28. The temple will now be prepared for its formal dedication on May 6, which will make it the 137th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Thousands to Tour New Kansas City Missouri Temple

Second Annual Kansas City Temple Run Set for May
Just two weeks after the dedication of the Kansas City Missouri Temple, the second annual Kansas City Temple Run will be held on Saturday, May 19. This year's run is a free event benefiting In as Much Ministries, a local charity that provides food and other necessities to the less fortunate.

Final Weeks of Construction for Kansas City Missouri Temple
The construction team for the Kansas City Missouri Temple is expected to wrap up its activities by the end of the month, giving the Church an opportunity to perform its final review and approval, cleaning, and official photographs before the temple opens its door to the public April 7–21, 2012.
New Exterior Lighting System at Kansas City Missouri Temple
Black silhouettes of the Kansas City Missouri Temple have been replaced by images of a softly lit House of the Lord in the most recently submitted photographs of the temple. Installation of the new lighting is still underway. The public is invited to tour the temple for free during a public open house April 7–21, 2012.
Opening Dates Announced for Kansas City Missouri Temple
The Kansas City Missouri Temple will open to the public for free tours from Saturday, April 7, through Saturday, April 21, excluding Sundays. The temple will be formally dedicated on Sunday, May 6, 2012, in three sessions. A cultural celebration of music and dance will be held the evening before the dedication.
Kansas City Missouri Temple Progress
The Kansas City Missouri Temple is anticipated to be turned over to the Church by early spring for its final review, cleaning, photographing, and approval process. The temple is expected to be dedicated and in operation by mid-summer 2012.
Looking Through the Window of the new Liberty Missouri Stake Center
An open house for the new Liberty Missouri Stake Center, located at the site of the Kansas City Missouri Temple, was held over the weekend in conjunction with stake conference. A wonderful feature of the new building is a view of the temple from a window in the chapel, allowing members to literally keep their eyes on the temple. No open house or dedication dates have been announced for the temple, but completion is expected next spring.

Construction advances on the Kansas City Temple where the main windows have been installed, more curbing and walkways have been added, and fence installation continues. The adjacent Liberty Missouri Stake Center will begin service on November 13.

Monument Sign Installed for Kansas City Missouri Temple
A new addition has been installed at the Kansas City Missouri Temple: a beautiful white monument sign, designating the name of the Church, the name of the temple, and its address on Searcy Creek Parkway. Work is focused on the interior of the temple, which is expected to open next year.
Angel Moroni Placed Atop the Kansas City Missouri Temple
On March 24, 2011, the gold-leafed statue of the angel Moroni assumed its position atop the eastern spire of the Kansas City Missouri Temple. Crowds gathered for the event and let out a cheer once the statue was put into place. Follow this link to view a 5½-minute video of the raising.
Western Spire of Kansas City Missouri Temple Receives Finial
On March 23, 2011, a finial was placed atop the recently installed western spire of the Kansas City Missouri Temple. The two spires and golf-leafed statue of the angel Moroni arrived at the site by truck on the evening of March 20. Installation of the angel Moroni is pending.
Kansas City Missouri Temple Receives Final Panels
This week the last of the exterior panels for the western tower of the Kansas City Missouri Temple were installed. The temple now lacks only its pyramidal spires to arrive at its final form. Earlier this month, a lone stained glass window was installed on the south side of the temple.
First Annual Kansas City Temple Run Slated for April 30
The Kansas City Missouri Temple site will be the start and finish of the First Annual Kansas City Temple Run this coming April. The 5K run/walk is open to all ages, and prizes will be awarded. Exterior panel placement is nearing completion on the west side of the beautiful new temple.
Cladding the Eastern Tower of the Kansas City Temple
A beautiful windowed section of exterior paneling has been attached to the eastern tower of the Kansas City Missouri Temple, leaving only the installation of the pyramidal spire and angel Moroni to bring the temple to its full height. Construction of the edifice is advancing rapidly.
Construction Advancements at the Kansas City Missouri Temple
Exterior panels have now been attached to the east, north, and south sides of the Kansas City Missouri Temple including around the base of the east tower. Work progresses on the adjacent meetinghouse, which will serve congregations in the area for Sunday worship.
