Module Installation Finished for the Cody Wyoming Temple
In just over a week's time, all of the modules for the Cody Wyoming Temple have been put in place and secured to the foundation. Those interested in observing the construction process are invited to a recently opened visitors' trailer, overseen by a senior missionary couple. The temple will be the third for Wyoming. The state's second temple was dedicated in Casper just two months ago.
Lindon Utah Temple Celestial Room Art Glass Windows
On the east side of the Lindon Utah Temple, beautiful art glass windows for the celestial room have been installed. Deep blues and greens swirl among depictions of linden trees leaves and blossoms, greatly adding to the heavenly atmosphere of the temple. Granite cladding of the spires will be wrapping up soon, and work has begun on the south portico. The temple has been under construction for almost 33 months.
Cupola Installed on the Yorba Linda California Temple
A handsome domed cupola has been installed on top of the steeple of the Yorba Linda California Temple, which will be shingled with red clay tile. Most of the building's exterior surfaces have been clad in marble and granite panels, but the front portico and steeple are yet to be completed. On the interior, millwork is being installed on the ceilings, and tile is being laid on the floors. Plumbing, electrical, and mechanical work are ongoing.
Soft Landscaping the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple Grounds
The Willamette Valley Oregon Temple grounds are teeming with plants in their grow pots. Many have been placed at marked locations in the flowerbeds where they will be planted. Installation of the permanent fence around the property has made significant progress, and work is well underway on laying pavers for the front plaza where the concrete base for the monument sign is located.
Framing the Upper Structures of the Querétaro Mexico Temple
With reinforced concrete exterior walls in place for the Querétaro Mexico Temple, heavy framing has commenced for the building's upper structures. The two-story, 27,500-square-foot temple will support a large central steeple with a prominent scalloped parapet over the front entrance. Construction of the temple and an adjoining ancillary facility has been underway for the past two years.
Updating the Landscaping at the San Diego California Temple
Among the ongoing renovation activities at the San Diego California Temple is relandscaping of the grounds. The berms on the south side of the temple have been stripped of vegetation, including flowers from the flowerbeds and the iconic palm trees. Aging systems and fixtures will be updated before these areas are replanted. The temple closed for renovation 18 months ago.
Exterior Rendering Released for the Brussels Belgium Temple
An artistic rendering of the exterior of the Brussels Belgium Temple has been published. The temple, a meetinghouse, and arrival facilities will be built within an existing building located at Avenue des Arts 52 in Brussels. The temple will be approximately 25,500 square feet. There are nearly 6,700 Latter-day Saints organized into 12 congregations in Belgium.
Open House and Dedication Announced for the Nairobi Kenya Temple
The open house and dedication dates for the Nairobi Kenya Temple have been announced. The open house will begin with a media day on Monday, April 14, 2025, followed by two days of tours for invited guests. The public is invited to tour the temple from Thursday, April 17, through Saturday, May 3, excluding Sundays. The temple will be dedicated by Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Sunday, May 18, 2025. The dedicatory session will be broadcast to all units in the temple district.
Structural Framing for the Londrina Brazil Temple Begins
Structural framing for the Londrina Brazil Temple began last month, following the installation of a partial basement and numerous concrete footings. A tower crane is being utilized in the construction process to carry out the heavy lifting and transportation of materials. Londrina is the second largest city in the state of Paraná, following the state capital of Curitiba where a temple was dedicated in 2008.
Placing the Modules for the Wichita Kansas Temple
Two winter storms have dropped a combined 9.5 inches of snow on the city of Wichita where construction of the 9,950-square-foot Wichita Kansas Temple is progressing. Modules are being delivered and lifted into place on top of the concrete foundation. Components for the storm drain system have also been staged on site. The temple has been under construction for the past four months.
Lower Tiers of the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple Steeple Clad
The lower tiers of the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple steeple has been clad in stone, and work is well underway on the top tier. A few portions of the parapet also remain to be clad. Clear glass and muntin bars have been installed in the window openings, which will later be fitted with art glass. The beautiful temple has been under construction for the past 37 months.
Snowy Conditions Arrive at the Cleveland Ohio Temple Site
Winter weather has brought cold temperatures and snow to the Cleveland Ohio Temple site, but the resilient crews adapt to the conditions and soldier on in their construction efforts. Precast panels continue to be secured to the exterior, and finish work is getting underway on the interior. A 2,200-square-foot ancillary building will also be constructed on site, providing a waiting area, restrooms, and storage.
Observation Area Available at the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple
A new observation platform has been created on the property adjacent to the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple grounds, providing better views of the ongoing construction process. Due to the steep slope of the grounds, numerous retaining walls have been installed to create a more level surface for the immediate area where the temple, ancillary building, and parking are located.
Installing the Basement Walls for the Austin Texas Temple
The floor slab and many of the walls have been installed for the basement level of the Austin Texas Temple. Rebar has been set for the reinforced concrete that will support the baptismal font. Plumbing trenches are being backfilled, and forming for the footings of the main floor structure will begin shortly. Construction of the temple has been underway for almost five months.
Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple in the Final Stages of Construction
A golden sunset settles on the horizon behind the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple, producing a stunning silhouette of this nearly completed house of the Lord. Construction began 33 months ago and is now in the final stages, but no dates have been announced for the open house and dedication. Behind the 19,000-square-foot temple is a 25,000-square-foot ancillary building that will offer patron housing and distribution services.
Los Angeles California Temple Not Affected by Wildfires
A statement was issued yesterday by Elder Mark A. Bragg, president of the North America West Area, regarding the wildfires affecting Greater Los Angeles: "…We mourn with those who have experienced loss and ask for the Savior’s comforting spirit to be with them. We also express gratitude for the acts of faith and work sustaining those affected by this crisis. At this time, the Church is mobilizing its resources. Everyone is encouraged to volunteer and make themselves available to assist those in need. The Church is committed to helping during this emergency and throughout the aftermath." Missionaries have been relocated, and the Los Angeles California Temple is safe and not affected by any fires or emergencies.
Installing the Parapet and Roof Deck for the Santa Cruz Bolivia Temple
The concrete structural walls for the Santa Cruz Bolivia Temple have been installed, and concrete forms have been set for pouring the parapet—the short wall that sits along the edge of the roof. Framing has been completed for the pitched roofs over the north and south wings of the building, and much of the decking is in place. Construction of an on-site ancillary building is also progressing.
Front Side View of the Phnom Penh Cambodia Temple
A recent photograph of the Phnom Penh Cambodia Temple gives an aerial view of the front side of the building where the main entrance is located. The parking lot islands have been planted with palm trees, and parking spaces have been striped for both cars and motos (motorcycles). The entrance plaza has a center flowerbed surrounded by raised flowerbeds and lamp posts.
Alabang Philippines Temple Spire Cap Installed
The Alabang Philippines Temple spire has been capped, and all of the scaffolding has been removed from the front of the building. This house of the Lord is a beautiful addition to Filinvest City, a master-planned urban center development located on the south side of Metro Manila in Muntinlupa. It is the second temple to be constructed in Metro Manila and will help alleviate demands of the busy Manila Philippines Temple.
Christus Statue Installed on the Nairobi Kenya Temple Grounds
A reproduction of Bertel Thorvaldsen's beautiful Christus statue has been installed on the grounds of the Nairobi Kenya Temple in front of a semicircular hedge located in the courtyard of the ancillary building. Major construction has wrapped up at the temple complex, and members are looking forward to an announcement of the open house and dedication dates. The temple is the first to be constructed in East Africa.
Cladding the Exterior Walls of the Torreón Mexico Temple
Work has begun on attaching precast panels to the exterior walls of the Torreón Mexico Temple. The panels were cast with moldings that case the windows and doorways. Decorative window headers were also incorporated into the design. The frame for the portico is a prominent feature at the front of the building. The temple reached its two-year groundbreaking anniversary last month.
Preparing to Set the Modules for the Cody Wyoming Temple
The concrete foundation for the Cody Wyoming Temple has been installed, and a telescoping crane is preparing to lift the building components (or modules) into place. The modules were manufactured at an off-site facility and delivered to Cody almost two years ago. They will be secured to the foundation at specific locations and stitched together to form the occupied portion of the building. Steel framing of the upper walls and steeple will follow.
Boarding the Window Openings of the Anchorage Alaska Temple
Heavy framing continues inside the Anchorage Alaska Temple to form the load-bearing walls and steel rafters for the roof. Wood framing for the grounds building is progressing simultaneously at the northeast corner of the property. The window openings are being boarded or covered with plastic sheeting in preparation for enclosing the structure and commencing work on the interior.
Windows Installed in the Port Vila Vanuatu Temple
The prefabricated modules for the Port Vila Vanuatu Temple have been secured to the concrete foundation. Windows have been installed in both the temple and the two-story accommodation center. Framing for the roof of the new meetinghouse is also underway. It is the first temple to be built in the island country of Vanuatu where members are organized into two stakes and two districts.
Removing the Construction Barrier from the Managua Nicaragua Temple Site
Portions of the construction barrier have been removed from the Managua Nicaragua Temple site, as the permanent fence is installed, providing less obstructed views of the beautiful temple. Cladding of the steeple is getting started, and landscaping of the grounds is well underway. The temple is one of two under construction in Central America. The other is the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple.
Providing Better Accessibility to the Stockholm Sweden Temple
Extensive site work has been carried out at the Stockholm Sweden Temple to provide better accessibility for patrons. Previously, the entire property sloped, and a stone staircase made it difficult for those in wheelchairs to access the building. The new temple will also be a little longer, a little wider, and include a basement with space for a workshop and mechanical equipment. The exterior appearance will be very similar to the original. No work has begun yet on building the superstructure.
A Glimpse Inside the North Addition of the Salt Lake Temple
A photograph was released this morning of the beautiful millwork that has been installed inside one of the sealing rooms in the north addition of the Salt Lake Temple. Work on the two baptistries, baptistry chapel, celestial room, and sealing rooms is wrapping up. On the exterior, vertical coring has been completed of 46 holes through the temple's stone walls (about 150 feet in length) that now house post-tension cables that compress the historic building to withstand high-magnitude earthquakes. The massive undertaking took three years to accomplish. The Come Follow, Me statue that was recently placed on Temple Square will be followed by other statues depicting the life and teachings of Jesus Christ over the next two years.
Landscaping Continues on the East Side of the Syracuse Utah Temple
The next temple anticipated to be completed in the state of Utah is the stunning Syracuse Utah Temple, located west of Layton between the Great Salt Lake and Interstate 15. The monument sign sits in a flowerbed located directly east of the main entrance next to 2500 West. The exterior stonework and art glass installation have been completed, and work continues on the landscaping of the grounds. No open house and dedication dates have been announced, but construction is expected to be completed this year.
Installing Stained Glass in the Port Moresby Papua New Guinea Temple
Beautiful panes of stained glass are being installed in the steeple of the Port Moresby Papua New Guinea Temple. Papua New Guinea is the most populated Pacific island country where members of the Church are organized into 3 stakes and 11 districts. They currently belong to the Suva Fiji Temple district, requiring a great amount of time and expense to attend the temple. Construction has been underway for 20 months.
Temple Construction Milestones in 2024
In 2024, plans were announced for 32 new temples, groundbreakings were held for 14 temples, and dedications were held for 16 temples including the Lima Peru Los Olivos Temple, the Orem Utah Temple, the Red Cliffs Utah Temple, the Urdaneta Philippines Temple, the Puebla Mexico Temple, the Taylorsville Utah Temple, the Cobán Guatemala Temple, the Salta Argentina Temple, the Layton Utah Temple, the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Temple, the Mendoza Argentina Temple, the San Pedro Sula Honduras Temple, the Salvador Brazil Temple, the Deseret Peak Utah Temple, the Casper Wyoming Temple, and the Tallahassee Florida Temple (pictured here). The Manti Utah Temple was also rededicated.
