Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple Marks 130 Temples of the Church
President Thomas S. Monson celebrated his birthday by dedicating the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple on August 21 with subsequent dedicatory sessions on August 22 and 23. The temple is the 13th in Utah and the 130th of the Church.
President Monson to Conduct Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple Cornerstone Ceremony
The completion of the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple will be marked this Friday, August 21, with the cornerstone ceremony conducted by President Thomas S. Monson on the southeast side of the temple.
No Lightning Scars on Moroni for Oquirrh Mountain Dedication
A new angel Moroni statue placed atop the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple today means no lightning scars for the temple as it heads into its dedication weekend. Lightning struck the original statue on June 13, 2009, leaving Moroni's face, arm, and trumpet black. The dedicatory services begin in 10 days.
Conclusion of the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House
Saturday, August 1, marks the final day of the two-month Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple public open house. The temple will then enter a cleaning and final preparation phase for the dedication, scheduled August 21–23. The Oquirrh Mountain temple will be the 130th operating temple of the Church.
Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple Struck by Lightning
During an afternoon thunderstorm on Saturday, June 13, the angel Moroni statue atop the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple sustained a direct hit by lighting—blackening Moroni's trumpet, arm, and face. Open house volunteers even say the ground shook. The extent of damage is being assessed.
Public Tours Commence at the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple

Media and VIP tours are underway at the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple in South Jordan, Utah. Public tours begin June 1. Reservations are available online, and you may also preview the interior. The general public is invited to attend the open house of the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple, where tours will be conducted for two months this summer. Tours are free, but a reservation is required. Dedication Rescheduled for the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple
The dedication of the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple, which was originally scheduled for 12 sessions August 14–16, has been rescheduled for 6 sessions August 22–23. The temple sits on a knoll in the Salt Lake Valley between the soaring Wasatch and Oquirrh Mountains.
Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple Open House Reservations
Beginning Monday, May 4, at 10:00 a.m., reservations will become available for the open house of the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple. This will be the second temple open house held in the Salt Lake Valley this year with the Draper Utah Temple open house ending in March.
