Sessions Added During Orlando Florida Temple Renovation
With the Orlando Florida Temple closed for renovation, sessions have been added to the regular schedule of the Fort Lauderdale Florida Temple to support the increased number of patrons. Fort Lauderdale is located over 200 miles south of Orlando, so sessions were added to the Friday and Saturday schedules. Patrons are reminded that no clothing rental is available and no distribution center is located nearby.
Renovation of the Orlando Florida Temple Underway
The renovation of the Orlando Florida Temple is getting underway. Decommissioning of the temple has been completed, and construction equipment is arriving. Mature oak trees that have damaged the parking lot will be removed, and the parking lot will be repaved. Inside, all of the glass will be replaced including windows and chandeliers. Furniture and furnishings will be updated throughout.
Orlando Florida Temple Closes for Major Renovation
At the conclusion of ordinance work yesterday, the 30-year-old Orlando Florida Temple closed for renovation, as announced in February. No details have been released on the anticipated changes or length of construction. Once the work has been completed, dates for an open house and rededication will be announced. There is currently one operating temple in Florida, located in Fort Lauderdale. Construction of a temple in Tallahassee is nearing completion, and plans have been announced for temples in Tampa and Jacksonville.
Major Renovation Announced for the Orlando Florida Temple
A major renovation has been announced for the 30-year-old Orlando Florida Temple. The temple will close in July 2024 and reopen at a future date that will be announced near the conclusion of the renovation. One other dedicated temple operates in the state—the Fort Lauderdale Florida Temple. Construction of the Tallahassee Florida Temple is nearing completion, and plans have been announced for temples in Tampa and Jacksonville.
Ten More Temples Enter Phase 2 of Reopening
The following ten temples begin Phase 2 of reopening on September 21, 2020: the Atlanta Georgia Temple, Chicago Illinois Temple, Fort Lauderdale Florida Temple, Halifax Nova Scotia Temple, Manila Philippines Temple, Memphis Tennessee Temple, Nashville Tennessee Temple, Orlando Florida Temple, Portland Oregon Temple, and Raleigh North Carolina Temple. This brings the total number of temples in Phase 2 to 99.
