The groundbreaking for the Querétaro Mexico Temple was held on the first Saturday of the new year. Elder Adrián Ochoa, first counselor in the Mexico Area presidency, presided at the event on January 7, 2023. The 3.58-acre temple site is located on Prolongación Tecnológico Norte across from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. Plans call for a two-story building of approximately 27,500 square feet.1

On December 7, 2021, the location of the Querétaro Mexico Temple was announced as a 3.58-acre site at Prolongación Tecnológico Norte 150 in the Colonia San Peblo neighborhood of Querétaro. Plans for the Querétaro Mexico Temple call for a two-story building of approximately 27,500 square feet.
Temple Announcement
On April 4, 2021, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Querétaro Mexico Temple at the 191st Annual General Conference. This will be Mexico’s 15th temple. Querétaro (officially known as Santiago de Querétaro) is a city about 135 miles northwest of Mexico City in the state of Querétaro in central Mexico. Querétaro has a population of about one million residents. The other temples in Mexico include the Ciudad Juárez Mexico Temple, Colonia Juárez Chihuahua Mexico Temple, Guadalajara Mexico Temple, Hermosillo Sonora Mexico Temple, Mérida Mexico Temple, Mexico City Mexico Temple, Monterrey Mexico Temple, Oaxaca Mexico Temple, Puebla Mexico Temple, Tampico Mexico Temple, Tijuana Mexico Temple, Tuxtla Gutiérrez Mexico Temple, Torreón Mexico Temple, Veracruz Mexico Temple, and Villahermosa Mexico Temple. The country is home to approximately 1.5 million Latter-day Saints, more than any other country outside the United States, and 1,800 congregations. Missionary work began in Mexico in 1875.2
