The San Jose California Temple is currently in the planning stages. No groundbreaking date has been announced.

On November 11, 2024, the official exterior rendering for the San Jose California Temple was released.1
Temple Site
On August 28, 2023, the location of the San Jose California Temple was announced as a 4.73-acre site where an existing meetinghouse is located at 771 West Fremont Avenue in the suburb of Sunnyvale. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet and an accompanying distribution center.2
Temple Announcement
On April 2, 2023, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the San Jose California Temple at the April 2023 General Conference. It was the 11th temple announced for the state. San Jose, the third-largest city in California, is located south of the San Francisco Bay area. It is part of Silicon Valley, a major technology hub. California is situated on the west coast of the United States and has nearly 730,000 Church members in approximately 1,150 congregations. Other temples in the state include the Feather River California Temple, Fresno California Temple, Los Angeles California Temple, Modesto California Temple, Newport Beach California Temple, Oakland California Temple, Redlands California Temple, Sacramento California Temple, San Diego California Temple, and Yorba Linda California Temple.3
