Groundbreaking services for the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Elder Sean Douglas, General Authority Seventy, will preside and offer the site dedicatory prayer. The 9,300-square-foot temple will be constructed on a 3.87-acre site located across from Parque Morales in San Luis Potosí. Plans for the temple were announced in April 2022, and site location was announced in October 2022.

On February 5, 2024, the official exterior rendering of the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple was released in conjunction with the groundbreaking announcement.1
Temple Site
On October 31, 2022, the location of the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple was announced as a 3.87-acre site located at Arboleda 100 in Fraccionamiento del Parque. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 9,300 square feet.2
Temple Announcement
On April 3, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple at the April 2022 General Conference. San Luis Potosí is the capital and the most populous city of the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí in central Mexico. It is one of the area’s main industrial centers. More than one million people reside in the area, making it one of the largest metropolitan centers in Mexico. This will be the 18th temple in the country. There were 17 other temples in Mexico at the time of the announcement including the Ciudad Juárez Mexico Temple, Colonia Juárez Chihuahua Mexico Temple, Culiacán Mexico Temple, Guadalajara Mexico Temple, Hermosillo Sonora Mexico Temple, Mérida Mexico Temple, Mexico City Mexico Temple, Monterrey Mexico Temple, Oaxaca Mexico Temple, Puebla Mexico Temple, Querétaro Mexico Temple, Tampico Mexico Temple, Tijuana Mexico Temple, Torreón Mexico Temple, Tuxtla Gutiérrez Mexico Temple, Veracruz Mexico Temple and Villahermosa Mexico Temple.3
