Temple Reopenings Announced for Next Monday
On Monday, September 28, three more temples will enter Phase 1 of reopening including the Cochabamba Bolivia Temple, Mérida Mexico Temple, and San Salvador El Salvador Temple, leaving only a handful of temples that have not reopened in some phase since the worldwide closure in March. Four other temples will move to Phase 2 of reopening including the Guayaquil Ecuador Temple, Newport Beach California Temple, Papeete Tahiti Temple, and San Diego California Temple.
2011 Temple Milestones
In 2011, two temples were dedicated in San Salvador, El Salvador, and Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, and the Atlanta Georgia Temple was rededicated; ground was broken for seven temples; and nine temples were announced. Renovations began for the Ogden Utah and Boise Idaho Temples.
135th Operating Temple Dedicated in San Salvador
President Henry B. Eyring, first counselor in the First Presidency, presided over the dedication of the San Salvador El Salvador Temple on Sunday, August 21.
General Public Invited to Tour San Salvador Temple

Circling palms trees, stone carvings, and additional windows are among the noticeable changes to the updated rendering of the San Salvador El Salvador Temple. Work on the exterior is progressing steadily with the addition of the spire and angel Moroni expected in the coming weeks.
