Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Following the recommendations of local public health agencies, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the temporary closure of the Seattle Washington Temple in response to concerns over the COVID-19 virus. It is the first temple in the United States to close in response to the virus, joining yesterday's announcement of the closure of the Rome Italy Temple and previous announcements of the temples in Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan.

The Seattle Washington Temple closed yesterday for roof repairs that are anticipated to take at least a month. The temple was dedicated almost 40 years ago on November 17, 1980, by President Spencer W. Kimball. It was first temple constructed in the Pacific Northwest.

The Seattle Washington Temple closed last week for an extended maintenance project. The temple is anticipated to reopen after the Thanksgiving holiday in late November 2018. The temple was dedicated nearly 38 years ago by President Spencer W. Kimball on November 17, 1980.
