The Maceió Brazil Temple is currently in the planning stages. No groundbreaking date has been announced.
Temple Rendering
On May 13, 2024, the official exterior rendering of the Maceió Brazil Temple was released to the public.1
Temple Site
On March 6, 2023, the location of the Maceió Brazil Temple was announced. The 19,000-square-foot temple will be constructed on Avenida Durval de Góes Monteiro in the Jardim Petropolis neighborhood of Maceió.2
Temple Announcement
On April 3, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Maceió Brazil Temple at the April 2022 General Conference. Maceió is the capital and the largest city of the coastal state of Alagoas, Brazil. Many tourists visit this port city to see its natural attractions and enjoy its cultural diversity. There are 1.5 million Latter-day Saints in Brazil in more than 2,100 congregations. The temple in Maceió will be the 15th temple for Brazil. At the time of its announcement, temples had been dedicated in Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife and São Paulo. One temple (Rio de Janeiro) was completed and preparing to be dedicated. Three other temples were under construction in Belém, Brasília and Salvador. Additional temples had been announced for Belo Horizonte, São Paulo East, and Vitória.3
