Elder B. Corey Cuvelier, a counselor in the Brazil Area Presidency, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Maceió Brazil Temple on Saturday, October 10, 2026. During the dedicatory prayer, he said, "We pray that this will be a place of inspiration and revelation, where all may feel Thy power and grow up in Thee. May this house, as it rises and when it is finished, be as a light set upon a hill, that all who behold it may feel of Thy love and be filled with purpose." Brazil currently has twelve dedicated temples and twelve more announced or under construction.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Maceió Brazil Temple will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Elder B. Corey Cuvelier of the Brazil Area Presidency will preside at the event. The temple site is located on Avenida Durval de Góes Monteiro in the Jardim Petropolis neighborhood of Maceió. There are currently 11 dedicated temples in Brazil and 5 under construction. Plans have been announced for 7 more temples, including the temple in Maceió.

The official exterior rendering for the Maceió Brazil Temple was published today. Plans for the temple were announced in April 2022, and the location was revealed in March 2023. The temple will be constructed on Avenida Durval de Góes Monteiro in the Jardim Petropolis neighborhood of Maceió. The rendering depicts a two-story temple with a tiered central steeple. It will be the first built in the Brazilian state of Alagoas.
