Temple Site
On November 28, 2022, the location of the Santos Brazil Temple was announced. The 23,000-square-foot temple will be constructed on the site of the Jabaquara Ward meetinghouse located at Avenida Doutor Waldemar Leão, 305, in the Jabaquara neighborhood of Santos.1
Temple Announcement
On April 3, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Santos Brazil Temple at the April 2022 General Conference. Santos is a southeastern port city in the state of São Paulo. There are 1.5 million Latter-day Saints in Brazil in more than 2,100 congregations. The temple in Santos will be the 16th temple for Brazil. At the time of its announcement, temples had been dedicated in Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife and São Paulo. One temple (in Rio de Janeiro) had been completed and was preparing for dedication. Three other temples were under construction in Belém, Brasília, and Salvador. Additional temples have been announced in Belo Horizonte, São Paulo East, Maceió, and Vitória.2
