Groundbreaking Date Announced for the Huntsville Alabama Temple
Elder John D. Amos of the United States Southeast Area Presidency will preside at the groundbreaking for the Huntsville Alabama Temple on Saturday, August 15, 2026. The temple will rise on a 21-acre site located southeast of the intersection of Gillespie Road and Browns Ferry Road in Madison, Alabama. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet. It will be the second temple in the state.
Exterior Rendering Published for the Huntsville Alabama Temple
The rendering for the Huntsville Alabama Temple has been released. The location for the temple was announced three months ago as a 21-acre property located southeast of the intersection of Gillespie Road and Browns Ferry Road in Madison, Alabama. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet. It will be the second temple constructed in Alabama, joining the Birmingham Alabama Temple (2000).

The location of the Huntsville Alabama Temple has been announced as a 21-acre property located southeast of the intersection of Gillespie Road and Browns Ferry Road in Madison, Alabama. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet. The temple will be the second in the state, joining the Birmingham Alabama Temple, which was dedicated in 2000 by former Church President Gordon B. Hinckley.
