Construction Begins on the Victoria British Columbia Temple
Elder James E. Evanson, General Authority Seventy and member of the Canada Area Presidency, presided at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Victoria British Columbia Temple on Saturday, August 22, 2026. "This building will bring a spirit of peace, devotion, compassion and joy to the community," he said. "It will become a beacon of peace and a place where we can know that there is a God in heaven who loves us, and that we are all his children." It will become the second temple in the province, joining the Vancouver British Columbia Temple, dedicated in 2010.
Victoria British Columbia Temple Groundbreaking Slated for August
The location of the Victoria British Columbia Temple has been announced as a 4.7-acre (1.9-hectare) site located on Mantle Heights Road in Langford, British Columbia. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 11,400 square feet with an accompanying patron waiting area. The official exterior rendering has also been published. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Elder James E. Evanson of the Canada Area Presidency will preside at the event.
